METAR Scan is developed by Think Forward Studio LLC. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles your data on both iPhone and Apple Watch.
METAR Scan does not collect, store, or transmit personal information through our own servers. We do not maintain user accounts or operate any backend infrastructure that stores your data. The iPhone version of the app does display advertisements served by Google AdMob (see "Advertising" below).
The app requests access to your device location solely to find nearby aviation weather stations. Your location is used only on your device and is sent directly to the FAA's aviationweather.gov API to retrieve weather data for your area. Your location is never stored, logged, or shared by us with any third party. Location data is not shared with our advertising partner.
METAR and TAF data is retrieved from aviationweather.gov, a free public data service operated by the Federal Aviation Administration. The app communicates directly with this service. We do not operate any intermediate servers.
If you enable IFR condition alerts, the app periodically checks weather data on your device and delivers local notifications. No data is sent to any push notification server. All processing occurs entirely on your device.
The app stores your preferences (display settings, favorite stations, notification settings) locally on your device using standard iOS and watchOS storage. This data is not accessible to us or any third party.
The iPhone version of METAR Scan displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. To serve ads, AdMob may collect and process limited information including:
Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the app shows a Google consent form before ads are requested, and you can change your choice later from within the app when that option is offered. The app also asks permission through iOS App Tracking Transparency. You can review and adjust your ad preferences at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising. The Apple Watch version of the app does not contain advertising of any kind.

METAR Scan is intended for use by adult pilots and aviation enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is not directed to children.
